You are here… exactly where you are meant to be.
Therapy happens in relationship.
I often notice how much of our struggle comes from feeling that we should be somewhere else, further ahead, different, or somehow already “there”.
We can become so focused on where we think we should be, or where we think we are, that we lose touch with what is actually present. You know those maps in shopping centres with the little dot that says You are here?
It doesn’t tell you where you should be. It simply shows you where you are.
And yet, our minds can be very quick to say:
I should be further ahead. I shouldn’t still feel like this.
I should have figured this out by now. I am better than this…
Therapy can be a place to pause, meet yourself where you are, and make space for what is here.
How does the journey begin?
Where are you right now? What has brought you here? And most importantly, what would you like to be different?
I believe meaningful change needs to be sustainable and integrated.
It is not simply about understanding a pattern or finding a way to feel better for a while. It is about creating enough space to understand what has been shaping you, reconnect with yourself, and explore what becomes possible when you begin to relate to yourself and others differently.
I work in a relational and grounded way, meeting you where you are.
Sometimes we explore. Sometimes we make plans. Sometimes we slow down and meditate. Sometimes we laugh, cry, practise, regulate, or gently challenge an old belief that no longer serves you.
There isn't one way that therapy has to look.
We allow patterns to become visible, not so that you can judge yourself for having them, but so that we can become curious about them.
What happens in therapy?
We don't just talk about what is happening. We become curious about how you experience it.
Our experience has many layers. The conscious and the unconscious. The mind and the body. Thoughts, emotions, sensations, impulses, memories, relationships and where it feels appropriate, there may also be space for questions of meaning, spirituality and energy. In our work, we develop awareness of these different layers and begin to notice how they interact.
I may ask:
How is your body responding as you talk about this?
What do you notice happening in your breathing?
Where do you feel that in your body?
If this feeling had a shape, image or symbol, what would it look like? Would you like to draw it?
What happens if we slow this moment down?
Would you like to explore an inner dialogue with this part of yourself?
What is your inner child experiencing right now?
What happens when you lose connection with yourself or someone else?
And what is happening between us, here in the room?
Sometimes the body tells us something before we have words for it.
You might notice yourself holding your breath, tightening your shoulders, feeling a heaviness in your chest, wanting to move away, becoming restless, going numb or suddenly feeling more settled. These responses are not something we need to judge or immediately change. They can become information, another way of understanding what is happening beneath the surface.
We may practise staying present with an emotion rather than becoming overwhelmed by it. We may explore a familiar pattern, work with different parts of yourself, regulate the nervous system, reconnect with a younger or older part of you, or gently challenge an old belief.
At times, this can create space for emotional release and the integration of difficult or traumatic experiences. We work carefully and at a pace that allows you to remain connected to yourself rather than becoming overwhelmed.
How does the journey begin?
You don't need to know exactly what you need before you begin.
An initial session is simply a chance to meet, talk about what brings you here, and see what it might be like to work together.
We can start from here.
Therapy can be weekly or fortnightly, depending on what feels appropriate for you and the work we are doing together.
